Dana Nygaard (Day-nuh Nigh-guard) is a devout Catholic with a heart for the New Evangelization. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, relationship coach, author, and national speaker, Dana is passionate about helping others transform their lives through intentional relationships. She combines proven psychotherapy techniques with authentic Catholic spirituality, offering clients and audiences practical solutions that inspire healing, growth, and lasting change.

Dana created Be Smart Date Smart to empower single Catholic women to discern Mr. Right from Mr. Wrong, avoid settling, and build a strong foundation for a joyful, faith-filled marriage. Her expertise also extends to marriage enrichment, where her book, 365 Dates to Renew Your Christian Marriage, and her Cana Commandments retreats equip couples to deepen their emotional and spiritual connection, aligning their relationships with God’s divine plan for love.

A former teacher, Dana earned her Bachelor of Secondary Education from the University of North Texas. Inspired by her desire to help individuals and couples find emotional, psychological, and spiritual healing, she later earned her counseling degree from Dallas Baptist University. With training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy and extensive experience in Catholic counseling, Dana brings compassion, wisdom, and faith-based guidance to every client and audience she serves.

Dana and her husband, David, live in Plano, TX, where their own faith-filled marriage serves as a living testament to God’s design for love and commitment. Together, they inspire others to cultivate intimacy, joy, and purpose in their relationships.
